Anyone can do it right? Is it true what they say, afterall if you can speak you too can be an inspirational speaker and earn lots of money whilst doing it. A conference planner will usually need at least one keynote speaker to inspire and motivate his audience to a higher level of achievement post conference. Afterall, if the conference were the same as everyday, and all you had were the usual suspects from your company or organisation, then that would probably not achieve the results that you desire. Often having someone from outside the immediate company, organisation and even industry can help your delegates to get what they need to go back to their business, job or home, well yes Inspired!
You don’t hire an inspirational speaker so that they can be up on stage talking about products and services. Their job is to motivate your audience to do better, be the best and this is why people who have reached the top of their profession, are well know either locally, nationally or globally do well as motivational or keynote speakers.
Ex British Prime Minister Tony Blair commands high fees as an after dinner speaker. His expertise and knowledge were gained through governing one of the richest countries in the world, through success and adversity. Having Tony Blair as your confernce keynote or special event after dinner speaker is going to motivate people to attend your event and they will be pumped because they are going to listen to someone who has a level of experience and knowledge that not many people have. This makes him unique. What makes him a good inspirational speaker however, is not just his experience, but the way he delivers to his audience.
If you’re audience can’t connect with the speaker, cannot find a semblance of themselves in him or her, then they won’t see the reason. Tony’s from humble backgrounds. He worked his way up through the British public school and political system and made his party popular enough to topple the government who had been in power for 18 years.
What Does It Take To Be An Inspirational Speaker
But Mr Blair earnings on the after dinner circuit is not the reason why you are reading this post. You want to know if you have what it takes to be an Inspirational speaker.
In an article I read recently, speaker Gill Eagle, an inductee into the speakers association hall of fame said
“One is content. Two is delivery — how well, riveting the speaker can be on the platform. Three is humor and the most important aspect for a company is what impact has a speaker made after he leaves?”
So do you have those qualities? Do you know your area of expertise, can you deliver content in a way that inspires people. If so then perhaps you are one who has what it takes to be an inspirational speaker
